The Reference Library of Chinmaya International Foundation Shodha Sansthan (CIFSS) holds a well-organized and extensive collection of approximately 30,000 books, catering to diverse academic and research needs.
Collection Overview
The library has a diverse collection of important books, research works, and original texts, mainly focused on Indology and Sanskrit studies. It includes:
- Indology & Sanskrit Literature – Original Sanskrit texts with their commentaries, covering subjects like Vyākaraṇa (Grammar), Poetics, Dramaturgy, Subhāṣitas, and Sūktis etc.
- Indian Philosophies – A large collection of books on Vedānta, Nyāya, Sāṅkhya, Yoga, Mīmāṁsā, Buddhism, and other philosophies.
- Vedic Studies & Manuscriptology – Books on Vedic scriptures, related texts, and research on preserving manuscripts.
- Traditional Knowledge Systems – Books on Tantras, Ayurveda, Śilpa Śāstra, and Indian Mathematics.
- Books in Hindi, English, Malayalam, and various Indian and foreign languages.
- Reference and Research Materials – including bibliographies, monographs, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, journals, periodicals, and catalogues of unpublished Indic and Asian manuscripts.
Valuable Donations from Eminent Scholars
Chinmaya International Foundation Shodha Sansthan is honored to have received the personal collections of esteemed Indian Indologists, including:
- Prof. K. V. Ramakrishnacharyulu and
- Prof. R. Balasubramanyam
- Sri Guruswami Prakasam (Father of H.H. Swami Advayanandaji) has generously contributed approximately 3,000 books.
