Dr. G. Gangadharan Nair is the Chairman, Managing Committee, Chinmaya Shodh Sansthan (Research Institute) besides being head of several statutory bodies in the national level.

Dr. Gangadharan Nair holds masters degrees in Sanskrit and Russian Language and Literature and a Ph. D. in Sanskrit.

He completed 38 years of post graduate teaching in Govt. Colleges and retired as Professor and Head, Department of Vyakarana, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, in 2007.

Dr. Gangadharan Nair is actively engaged in research specializing in Indology, Sanskrit Linguistics, Ancient Indian Sciences, Indian Philosophical Systems and produced 20 Ph. Ds during his academic career, besides guiding several M. Phil. students.

He has published more than 100 Research papers in reputed Research journals. Authored books like Samskrita Vyakarana Charitam, Samskrita Prabodhini, Samskrita Sandipani, etc. Along with his co-authors he edited several research journals and books like the Journal of Sukrtindra Oriental Research Institute, publications of Viswa Sanskrita Pratishthan, Samskrita Bharati, Kerala) and the Complete Works of Shri Sankarachrya published by Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady.

He was honoured on several occasions for excellence in Sanskrit erudition such as: V. Krishnan Thampi memorial Gold medal in 1966; Kaliyath Swamiyar Smaraka Suvarnamudra in 2009; Panditaratnam, honorary title conferred by Viswa Sanskrita Pratishthan (Samskrita Bharati) Kerala in 2013; K. P. C. Narayanan Bhattathiripad memorial Acharya Puraskar in (2015).

He is founder of several noteworthy institutions and programmes, resource person to a number of important academic programmes and has active role in the promotion and propagation of Sanskrit in the international level.
