Dr. Dilip Kumar Rana is Director, Chinmaya Shodha Sansthan, Veliyanad in the Adarsh Shodha Sansthan scheme of Central Sanskrit University under the control of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, Govt. of India.
He had his schooling at Rajnagar, Keonjhar in the state of Orissa and went on to study Sanskrit obtaining Masters (Acharya) in Advaita Vedanta from Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. He also has an M.A. in Sanskrit from Delhi University. He was awarded Ph. D. in Vedanta for his critical edition of Bhashyartharatnaprabha which is a commentary on the Brahmasutrashankarabhasya.
Dr. Rana started his career as a Research Assistant in the renowned Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts [IGNCA], which is known for carrying out research on Indian art and culture, under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. He worked there about 22 years in various capacities such as a Researcher and then moved on to become the Assistant Director of the National Mission for Manuscripts which is an acclaimed project sponsored by the Government of India and has done several works for the development of Manuscript studies.
Dr. Rana’s significant contributions include publication of three books and about 15 research articles besides delivering hundreds of lectures on Manuscriptology and ardently participating in number of seminars and workshops in different universities and research institutions.
He is fervently working on several institutional projects as well as those funded by national agencies. He has been Director of the Chinmaya Shodha Sansthan since 2009.
